Why a Wiper Motor May Fail
  • As an electromechanical system, it may fail if it is not receiving or processing electric current properly, or because its mechanical parts are damaged or broken.
  • It becomes over-stressed due to improper use under an extreme weight load, such as heavy snow or unscraped ice on the windshield.

Related Components to Check
  • All appropriate fuses (see Shop or Owner’s Manual for fuse layout).
  • Wiper/multifunction switch assembly is working properly.
  • Electrical connections to and from the wiper motor.
  • Gears and linkages for proper mechanical operation.
